I was so glad to be a part of this garden-themed ceremony at Maryland’s own Oxon Hill Manor. It was a delight working with so many talented local vendors, especially at such a gorgeous historical site. Plus, we were fortunate to have sunny spring weather!
Oxon Hill Manor was built in 1711 and reconstructed in 1928. It perches high on a hill and features picturesque views of the Potomac River from its gardens. Despite the fact that it is situated just 2.5 miles outside of Washington D.C., you would never know it! Its lush grounds, expansive views, stately and spacious rooms, and proximity to the city make it a popular rental site for meetings, conferences, and events.
What’s more, the grounds of the manor feature Formal English gardens, rose bushes encircling a reflecting pool, and a large brick patio for outdoor entertaining. However, it isn’t just the outside of the property that is impressive. Inside, you can wander through exquisitely appointed rooms with shining wood floors, crystal chandeliers, and ornate fireplaces. Still, arguably the grandest aspect of the home’s interior is the sweeping circular staircase ascending from the first-floor hallway.
The grandeur of the manor made it the perfect site for the bride and groom, Amy and Jason, to exchange their vows, since they met at the Eastern Shore’s stunning Talbot Country Club. Both are avid golfers who played on their college teams. After they met and began dating, golf became a regular part of their life together. So, the theme of their wedding was, of course, golf! From the stationery to the cake, golf-themed details added a touch of whimsy to the day while paying homage to their shared passion.
For engaged Maryland couples who value a venue’s beauty and history, Oxon Hill Manor is an ideal location for beginning their lives together. To read more about this wedding, see its feature in Chesapeake Bay Wedding Magazine. It even made the front cover!
