I want to take this opportunity to highlight a collection that is so near and dear to my heart! The Miss Athleen Suite was designed with my great aunt in mind. She was my grandmother’s older sister and caregiver to the entire family. Her nickname was “Sister,” and that’s how everyone in town referred to her. I love being able to honor her with this collection.

The Inspirational Woman

My great aunt was a schoolteacher by trade, like most women in those days. She was passionate about me getting a good education and having great cursive writing skills. She was a small woman with rosy plump cheeks and a smile that lit up the room. She made the best pecan pie! We’d visit, and she’d send us out to the yard to collect pecans and shell them.

She never married, which always made me sad. She sacrificed her happiness because her parents needed her to take care of them. She was the oldest and the obligation fell on her shoulders. But you never saw her unhappy. Just before she passed, she gave me the beautiful ring she never took off. I never knew how significant it was until she passed away. That’s when I learned that she had been engaged but called it off to take care of her elderly parents. She never forgot him and always cherished that ring.
